This is the southern outdoors at it's best. It is simply the most beautiful preserve I have viewed in South Carolina. Scenes from "The Patriot", which is a movie starring Mel Gibson were shot here. A prop still stands in front of the swamp. There are canoe's waiting for you as you enter, so you can glide through the water, and watch for some of the area's wildlife. After your water adventure, you may take a walk on the trails where you will pass through aromatic gardens, and be able to view the swamp from different angles. Colorful plantlife, and the reflection of cypress tree's off of the glass-like swamp make for a very pleasant day. Bring your camera!
