This dwelling was built in 1825 for a successful merchant named Charles Edmondston. This beautiful Greek revival style home was then sold to Charles Alston who was a wealthy rice planter. In Alston's hands some modifications were made including a third story. Beautiful architectural carvings and authentic 17th & 18th century furnishing's make this site one of the most beautiful I've seen in Charleston. You're welcome to take a step onto a beautiful balcony and feel a cool breeze while overlooking the Cooper River. The tour costs $10, and is well worth the beautiful architecture and the friendly guides. All in all, this is a beautiful site which holds much of Charleston's historic glamour.
